U.S. taxes in Switzerland

We assist you with your U.S. tax matters.

If you are a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder living or working in Switzerland, you generally remain subject to U.S. taxation, with only a few exceptions. This means that, in addition to your Swiss tax return, you will usually also be required to file a U.S. tax return. In many cases, you must also submit an FBAR filing, particularly if you hold bank accounts or other financial assets outside the United States.

We advise you on U.S. tax matters and support you throughout the entire preparation and filing process. We place great importance on ensuring that you understand which information must be declared and why. U.S. tax obligations differ from the Swiss system in many respects, particularly in terms of reporting requirements, filing obligations and deadlines.

Failure to file a U.S. tax return may result in penalties under U.S. tax law. In addition, Swiss banks and insurance companies may be required to report information relating to U.S. citizens and Green Card holders to the U.S. tax authorities (IRS). A correct and complete filing is therefore essential to minimise risks and ensure your tax affairs are properly managed in the long term.

We also assist clients who are considering or preparing to renounce their U.S. citizenship. We help you assess your individual situation, resolve any outstanding tax filing obligations and plan the next steps in a structured and well-informed manner.
